CLINTON – Drivers traveling south on the U.S. 701 bridge over U.S. 421 in Clinton should expect to encounter a closure until further notice.
The closure is needed to allow N.C. Department of Transportation crews to safely repair the damage caused by a piece of equipment that struck the overpass at the U.S.701/U.S.421 interchange earlier this week.
U.S. 701 southbound traffic will be detoured to U.S. 421 northbound, the Tram Road interchange, Tram Road and U.S. 421/U.S. 701 southbound.
Transportation officials urge drivers to follow the detour route, slow down and obey the posted speed limits.
