Paving Work Closes Ramps at College Road/Market Street

WILMINGTON – Rainy weather has delayed the scheduled closing of the entrance and exit ramps at the intersection of College Road and Market Street in Wilmington. It was supposed to take place Sunday and Monday nights, but is now set for tonight and Tuesday night.

The closures are needed so crews can repave all the ramps at the intersection.
The College Road northbound and southbound ramps will not be closed simultaneously. All the ramp work will take place between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., with paving on the southbound ramps set for Monday night, to be followed on Tuesday night by work on the northbound ramps.

The work remains weather conditional as paving and road striping can’t take place during rainy and wet conditions.

During the Monday night closure, drivers wishing to exit southbound College Road will need to use New Center Drive to get to Market Street. Traffic wishing to access southbound College Road from Market Street will use the reverse of this detour.

The next night, drivers who want to exit northbound College Road will need to use use Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway (U.S. 74) to reach Market Street. Traffic wanting to get on northbound College Road will reverse that detour.

Motorists need to pay extra attention when approaching the ramp closures, and follow the message board directions.
