All work will be accomplished in one night
WILMINGTON – Drivers using the ramp from Interstate-140 East to westbound I-40 in Wilmington should expect to encounter a temporary overnight ramp closure on Monday, Aug. 27.
The closure is needed so N.C. Department of Transportation crews can safely replace expansion joints. They enable the bridge to expand in hot weather and contract in cold weather, avoiding buckling and prolonging the life of the ramp.
The closure will be in place from 8 p.m. Monday until 6 a.m. the following morning. Traffic will be detoured to N.C. 133 North/Castle Hayne Road to Castle Hayne, Holly Shelter Road to return to I-40 West.
Motorists are urged to slow down and drive carefully through the work zone and to expect possible delays.
