KANNAPOLIS – As work continues on the Interstate 85 widening project, N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will temporarily close the entrance ramp from Lane Street to I-85 North to prepare for a future traffic shift onto the new bridge taking Lane Street over the interstate.
The ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, until 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8. Traffic will be detoured west on Lane Street to U.S. 29/601 North, and back to I-85 at exit 68 in Rowan County.
Motorists are encouraged to pay attention when approaching the work zone, obey the posted speed limit, follow posted detours, and allow extra time to reach their destinations safely.
