Public Input Sought for U.S. 158 Widening Project

GATESVILLE - The N.C. Department of Transportation is inviting the public to an informal-style meeting on Thursday, Oct. 4, to learn more about the proposed widening of U.S. Highway 158 from Acorn Hill Road in Gates County to the Pasquotank County line. The project is designed to modernize and improve safety along this segment of the U.S. 158 corridor by widening existing lanes and improving the shoulders.

A map of the proposed project is available for viewing on the NCDOT public meeting webpage.

Area residents will get a chance to learn more about the project, talk to NCDOT representatives and provide comments on the proposal from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Sunbury Volunteer Fire Department, located at 56 N.C. Highway 32. They may attend the meeting at any time, as no formal presentations will be made.

Comments on the project can also be submitted via phone, email or mail by Oct. 19. For more information or to submit comments, please contact Ryan Shook at rlshook@ncdot.gov, 252-482-1871, or at Highway Division 1, 113 Airport Drive, Suite 100, Edenton, NC 27932.
