Weekend Work to Affect U.S. 29 in Concord

CONCORD N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will be working at the intersection of U.S. 29 at Morehead Road this weekend, milling and repaving part of the roadway to give drivers a smoother ride.

Traffic on U.S. 29 will be reduced to one lane in both directions starting at 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, and wrapping up by noon Saturday, Oct. 6.

During this time, traffic on Morehead Road will be detoured around the closure. Motorists traveling westbound will be directed to Hudspeth Road and back to U.S. 29.

Eastbound drivers will be detoured to Old Holland Road, Weddington Road and Bruton Smith Boulevard before returning to U.S. 29.

Motorists are encouraged to pay attention when approaching the work zone, obey the posted speed limit, follow posted detours, and allow extra time to reach their destinations safely.
