Proposed Project Would Improve I-485/N.C. 16 Interchange in Mecklenburg Co.

CHARLOTTE – The public is invited to provide input on a project under development to improve traffic flow at the Interstate 485/Brookshire Boulevard (N.C. 16) interchange in Charlotte. The N.C. Department of Transportation is proposing to add northbound lanes on N.C. 16 and make some improvements to ramps at the interchange.

The local NCDOT highway division submitted the proposal for funding consideration through the State Transportation Improvement Program to reduce delays and congestion and provide operational improvements at the interchange.

People may attend the drop-in meeting from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Mountain Island Church of Christ Fellowship Hall, 4205 Mount Holly-Huntersville Road.

Those who cannot attend the meeting may submit comments in writing, phone or email through Nov. 30. All comments received will be reviewed and considered for the final design.
