KITTY HAWK – The N.C. Department of Transportation’s Bridge Maintenance Unit will soon be replacing cross pipes under Kitty Hawk Road, requiring the closure of the road in two places for a week at a time each. Due to an extended period of rain in the forecast this week, those closures have been delayed.
The first closure will now take place between Shelby Avenue and Moor Shore Road from 7 a.m. Nov. 26 through 6 p.m. Dec 1.
The second closure will take place between Elijah Baum Road and Herbert Perry Road from 7 a.m. Dec. 3 through 6 p.m. Dec. 8.
Both closures will utilize The Woods Road as a detour route around the work zones. The detour route will be well-marked with signs and message boards.
