I-85 South Traffic Shift This Weekend in Rowan County

CHINA GROVE – Work on the Interstate 85 widening project in Rowan County will include a traffic shift of the southbound lanes onto a new concrete roadway this weekend between mile markers 69 and 65 near China Grove. The start of the traffic shift is set for 9 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, and is scheduled to be completed by 9 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18. Part of this work will involve closing multiple lanes north of mile marker 69 so crews can safely restripe the roadway.

Also this weekend,  the I-85 South ramp off N.C. 152 will be closed between midnight and 6 a.m. on Sunday. The detour route will send drivers from N.C. 152 onto I-85 North. They will travel two miles to exit 70 (Webb Road), where they will turn left, travel 1,000 feet and turn left to get to the southbound side of the interstate.

Drivers are urged to slow down when approaching the work zone and use extra caution as they approach the traffic shift as there will be workers on the highway.
