Big Milestone for I-85 Rehab Project in Vance, Warren Counties

HENDERSON – Work on the Interstate 85 rehabilitation project in Vance and Warren counties hit a milestone today, as contractors finished painting pavement markings on the new roadway surface.

Just in time for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, these new markings open all lanes of the I-85 stretch for safe travel. While there is still some minor work left to be completed that will require temporary lane closures into the new year, major project work has been finalized.

The new pavement markings are part of a $137 million project to improve more than 20 miles of I-85 between Dabney Drive in Vance County and the Virginia state line. The work involves repairing the deteriorating road surface, as well as bridge replacements and improvements on the interstate and roads crossing over the highway.

Drivers are urged to continue to pay extra attention throughout the work zone and obey the posted speed limit.
