Sign Project Closes Multiple I-40 West Lanes at Night in Guilford Co. Next Week

GREENSBORO – Work on the replacement of overhead signs will continue through much of next week, requiring the overnight closure of multiple lanes of Interstate-40 West between the Guilford College Road Exit and the split with the I-73 South loop. The closures are needed for the safety of the crews working on the highway.

The lane closures start Sunday at 8 p.m. for two of the four lanes, with a third lane closing at midnight. All lanes will be open again by 6 a.m. on Monday. The same schedule will be in place on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights, with all work wrapping up by Friday morning.

Drivers are urged to slow down and use extra caution when approaching the work zone for their own safety, as well as the safety of other drivers, passengers and the contractor crews. They should anticipate possible backups as traffic is reduced to two lanes and then a single lane. They also need to be aware that trips through the area could take longer than usual.
