CONCORD – Temporary lane closures and ramp closures will take place later tonight as contract crews make progress on the Interstate 85 widening project in Cabarrus County. By tomorrow morning, four northbound lanes will be open in the project limits between exits 55 and 63.
Tonight at 9 p.m., three northbound lanes will close between mile markers 54 and 55 to relocate signs and add pavement markers. At midnight, the entrance ramp from George Liles Parkway to I-85 North will close, as will the northbound exit and entrance ramps at N.C. 73.
All lanes and ramps will open by 6 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5.
Motorists are encouraged to pay attention when approaching the work zone, obey the posted speed limit, follow posted detours, and allow extra time to reach their destinations safely.
