CHARLOTTE – N.C. Department of
Transportation officials have closed the right lane on I-85 North near U.S. 321
(Exit 17) in Gaston County after a tractor trailer hauling a trackhoe struck the
bridge on U.S. 321 North.
The lane will remain closed until officials have thoroughly
inspected the structure and determined it safe to open to traffic.
Crews have also closed the ramp from U.S. 321 South to I-85 North.
Motorists can continue south on U.S. 321, turning left on U.S. 74 East, then
left again on New Hope Road and back onto I-85.
