CHARLOTTE – Alexander County will soon
have a new bridge on County Home Road over Glade Creek south of Taylorsville,
thanks to a $632,000 contract awarded by the N.C. Department of
Transportation.
Work can start as soon as Jan. 29 and no later than April 1.
Contractor R.E. Burns and Sons, Inc. of Statesville will have 195 consecutive
days to complete all work on the project except landscaping, with the final
completion date falling 375 days after work gets underway.
A detour will be posted for motorists along County Home Road,
Millersville Road and N.C. 16.
This was one of eight road and bridge projects recently awarded by
the department. They were worth about $110.6 million, about $20.2 million under
engineer estimates.
