CHAPEL HILL, N.C. –The N.C. Division of
Motor Vehicles has awarded a contract to operate the Chapel Hill License Plate
Agency.
Located at 1704-B E. Franklin St. in Gateway Commons, the agency
will be operated by The Neal Agency, LLC, and managed by Elaine Neal.
The office is closed on Friday, Feb. 2, and will re-open at 9 a.m.
on Monday, Feb. 5 under new ownership. The Chapel Hill plate agency has been in
operation at that location since 2013.
The NCDMV closed the agency on July 14, 2017 and canceled the
contract of the previous operator after an investigation revealed improper
activity at the agency location. DMV employees have been operating the agency
since mid-July.
In addition, services such as property tax payments and
registration renewals can be done online at www.MyNCDMV.gov.
LPAs offer vehicle registration services and title transactions, as
well as vehicle license plate renewals, replacement tags and duplicate
registrations. Currently, about 120 license plate agencies operate across North
Carolina.
