RALEIGH – A shoulder washout on Lead
Mine Road in north Raleigh has created a potentially dangerous hazard within
three feet of the northbound travel lane.
Repair crews have closed the shoulder along the road about 1,000
feet north of West Millbrook Road and are in the process of setting up the first
of a handful of daily road closures lasting from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. until the
damage is repaired. Engineers estimate needing at least three days to complete
the mend.
While the closures are in effect, motorists may utilize West
Millbrook Road, N.C. 50, and Lynn Road to detour around the worksite.
Area residents are encouraged to use caution when approaching the
worksite and to obey the safety traffic signs directing travel around the
hazard.
