UPDATED RELEASE WITH NEW DATES: Crews plan to close Cliffdale Road eastbound at the Outer Loop construction site tonight at 9, March 7,and reopen the next morning. The original closing date (below) was postponed due to rain. The westbound lanes to close Thursday night, March 8, for the same period

THE ORIGINAL RELEASE on Feb. 26 FOLLOWS:

FAYETTEVILLE – Cliffdale Road will have to close overnight this week where the Fayetteville Outer Loop is under construction to let workers bury new storm drains under the pavement.

The two lanes of Cliffdale Road going toward South Reilly Road will be closed Wednesday, Feb. 28, from 9 p.m. until 5 the next morning, when normal traffic will resume. Then on Thursday, March 1, the other two lanes going toward Hoke County will close during the same time.

The detour will be the same for both closures and send traffic onto South Reilly Road, Raeford Road and Rim Road to access Cliffdale Road from either direction.

The N.C. Department of Transportation is building the Fayetteville Outer Loop, or N.C. 295, in sections, with eventual completion of the entire 39-mile route by 2022. The Outer Loop segment necessitating the temporary closure will stretch between the All American Freeway and Cliffdale Road and open this fall.
