CONCORD – As the
Interstate 85 widening project continues in Cabarrus County, several nights of lane closures are scheduled for bridge work between Dale Earnhardt Boulevard (exit 60) and Lane Street (exit 63).
Contractor Blythe Construction will close one lane on I-85 North between exits 60 and 63 from 9 p.m. Sunday, June 3, until 6 a.m. Monday, June 4. The southbound lanes will also be closed from midnight to 6 a.m., requiring a detour from exit 63 to U.S. 29 South and N.C. 3, back to the interstate.
The same lane closure will take place on Monday night, in addition to a right lane closure on I-85 South between exits 68 and 63 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday, June 5.
On Tuesday night, crews will have the same lane closures in place as Sunday.
Motorists are encouraged to pay attention when approaching the work zone, obey the posted speed limit, follow posted detours, and allow extra time to reach their destinations safely.
