Plant, NCDOT Work to Require Six-Week Road Closure in Chatham County

SILER CITY – A short stretch of East Third Street near U.S. 64 (East 11th St) will close beginning Tuesday, May 29, for a joint economic development project.

Poultry food processor Mountaire Farms needs to do utility work underneath East Third Street as part of a plant renovation and expansion.

The N.C. Department of Transportation is participating in the project by upgrading the storm-drainage system on East Third Street adjacent the plant. The drainage improvements will be done while the road is closed.

The closure, which will not affect access to any of the other businesses in the vicinity, will last about six weeks.
