Soil Testing Work Prompts Closures on Business 40 in Forsyth County

Winston-Salem - N.C. Department of Transportation contractors will alternate closing eastbound and westbound lanes on Business 40 near Peters Creek Parkway while they drill into the soil for ground testing work related to the Business 40 Improvement Project in Winston-Salem.

“This soil testing is a critical part of determining the safety of the foundation along the construction site,” NCDOT Resident Engineer Mezak Tucker.

The next round of lanes closures will take place nightly from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m., Sunday, April 8 through Wednesday, April 11, weather permitting.

Contract crews will be working alongside traffic so NCDOT reminds motorists to spare the lives of workers by paying attention when approaching the work zone, obeying the posted speed limit, and allowing extra time to reach their destinations safely.
