Some Triad Roadways Remain Closed Following Severe Sunday Storm

Greensboro - Some state-maintained roadways across northeast Guilford, Rockingham and Caswell Counties remain closed today due to a severe line of thunderstorms that slammed the Triad over the last 24-hours.

“N.C. Department of Transportation Division 7 maintenance crews and contract workers that cover Caswell, Alamance, Randolph, Guilford and Rockingham counties are responding to those areas hardest hit by storm damage,” said NCDOT Engineer Mike Mills.

Several roads will possibly remain closed through tomorrow, Tuesday, April 17, due to downed trees and downed power lines. They are as follows:

  • In Guilford County: Hines Chapel Road, Turner Smith Road;
  • In Caswell County: Gwynns Chapel Road;
  • In Rockingham County: Grooms Road, Worsham Mill Road, Mizpah Church Road and Old U.S. 29.

The department reminds drivers to not try to go around road closed signs or drive over downed power lines.
