Raleigh – What should be a familiar very
short detour for drivers heading south on Capital Boulevard will be in place
this weekend. Work on the new Wade Avenue ramp bridge will require the closure
of southbound Capital Boulevard at Wade Avenue from 9 p.m. this evening until 6
a.m. on Monday. Feb. 26.
The same closure has been in place several times over the past
months, with the same detour in place this weekend. Vehicles will be sent off
the boulevard at the exit ramp for Wade Avenue, cross over the road and get
right back on southbound Capital Boulevard using the on ramp from Wade
Avenue.
Law enforcement will to handle traffic control, as at times
vehicles on the brief detour will have to stop for traffic going from eastbound
Wade Avenue onto northbound Capital Boulevard.
Drivers are urged to slow down, follow law enforcement directions
and use caution when going through the short detour.
The new Wade Avenue exit bridge is being built next to the current
bridge and could be open late this spring or early in the summer.
Updated information on the work is available through a variety of
means, including the project
website, as well as the NCDOT Triangle twitter feed.
