Detour is in place for motorists
POLKTON – A 12-inch water line has ruptured along the shoulder of U.S. 74 West near Old Prison Camp Road, east of Polkton, shutting down both westbound lanes.
A detour is in place for motorists along Boggan Cut Road, N.C. 742 North and Ansonville-Polkton Road.
The closure is expected to be in place through this afternoon, so crews can repair the damaged water line and pavement.
Transportation officials remind motorists to drive safely, obey all posted speed limits, detour signs and work-zone postings.
