βWINSTON-SALEM β N.C. Department of Transportation
contractors will close a portion of Business 40 between Cloverdale Avenue and
Peters Creek Parkway while crews install bridge girders and perform overhead
work starting Friday, June 8, in Winston-Salem.
Starting at 9 p.m., both
directions of traffic along this stretch of Business 40 will be reduced to one
lane; with a complete closure starting at 10 p.m. The roadway will reopen to
traffic by 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 10; weather permitting.
βThe closure,
part of the Business 40 Improvement
Project, is needed for the protection of workers and drivers as the overhead
work may pose a danger to the traveling public,β said NCDOT Division Engineer
Pat Ivey.
Drivers will be able to detour using West 1st Street and
Cloverdale Avenue in both directions.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch
signs for construction information, stay alert, slow down in the work zone and
obey the posted speed limit.
