Weekend Widening Work to Close Lanes Along Interstate 40 at the Davie/Forsyth County Line

Clemmons - N.C. Department of Transportation crews will begin a series of weekend closures of I-40 lanes, starting with the outside westbound lane of I-40 between Harper Road and the Yadkin River Bridge near Clemmons. The closures are needed for widening work at the Davie/Forsyth County line.

“Construction crews will work this weekend to widen the roadway ahead of bridge replacements in this area as part of a larger rehabilitation project to improve capacity and driver experience along this major stretch of highway between Davie and Forsyth Counties,” said NCDOT Engineer Pat Ivey.

Weather permitting; work will take place this weekend beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 20, and is expected to wrap up by Sunday, April 22 at noon.

The same schedule will be followed Friday through Sunday on these weekends: May 4 through 6, June 1 through 3, June 8 through 10, and June 15 through 17.

While the roadway will not be completely closed, crews will be working alongside traffic. Transportation officials remind motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and slow down in the work zone.
