LEWISVILLE β€” N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will begin work to modify the U.S. 421 interchange with Peace Haven Road in Forsyth County, prompting inside lane closures on the north and southbound lanes of U.S. 421.

β€œThe purpose of this project is to improve capacity and to alleviate congestion in this area by widening U.S. 421 to three lanes,” said Division 9 Engineer Pat Ivey.

Weather permitting; work will take place this weekend from 7 p.m. on Friday, June 8, until Monday, June 11 at 5 a.m.

While the roadway will not be completely closed, crews will be working alongside traffic. Motorists are reminded to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and slow down in the work zone.
