NEWPORT – The N.C. Department of Transportation will close turn lanes on U.S. 70 at the intersection of Howard Boulevard and Nine Foot Road on Monday and Tuesday nights. This work is part of a project to upgrade the intersection for pedestrian crossings.
The left turn lanes from U.S. 70 (both directions) onto Nine Foot Road and Howard Boulevard will be closed from Monday, July 1 at 7 p.m. until Tuesday, July 2 at 6 a.m.
The right turn lanes from U.S. 70 (both directions) onto Nine Foot Road and Howard Boulevard will be closed the same hours overnight Tuesday.
Drivers from either direction can get around the closures by continuing through the intersection, and then using the nearby turnarounds to turn left and head back to either Howard Boulevard or Nine Foot Road.
