SHELBY – As work continues on the Shelby Bypass in Cleveland County, several temporary lane closures will be needed as bridge girders are delivered and installed over N.C.180, just south of Airport Road and the CSX Railroad tracks.
Intermittent lane closures will be in place on N.C. 180 on Feb. 4, 7, and 12, as the bridge girders are delivered and unloaded. While the road will not be completely closed, motorists may encounter delays.
On the weekend of Feb. 16-17, crews will close N.C. 180 to install the bridge girders. The closure will be in place from 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15 until 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18. A detour will be in place along N.C. 180, U.S. 74 Business, and N.C. 18 North, returning to N.C. 180.
Motorists are encouraged to pay attention when approaching the work zone, obey the posted speed limit, and allow extra time to reach their destinations safely.
