Public Meeting This Week on Proposed Interchange Improvements in Rockingham Co.

MAYODAN – The public is invited to an informal public meeting this week on proposed modifications to the junction of the future I-73/U.S. 220, U.S. 311 and N.C. 135 in Rockingham County.

The project calls for replacing the N.C. 135/U.S. 311 bridge and upgrading the interchange ramps and bridge clearance to accommodate for the future I-73 improvements. This will relieve traffic flow and operational deficiencies at the interchange and ensure an acceptable level of performance as development and traffic continue to increase in the area.

The improvements were proposed by the Piedmont Triad Rural Planning Organization.

The N.C. Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the Madison-Mayodan Recreation Center, located at 300 S. Second Ave. in Mayodan.

People may stop by at any time during the meeting hours to view project maps, ask questions of NCDOT representatives and offer input that will be taken into consideration as the project develops. Comments can also be submitted by phone or email by March 7.
