CLEMMONS – An exit ramp off of Interstate 40 will close overnight Monday as part of an ongoing project to replace the I-40 bridges over the Yadkin River and widen and improve the interstate.
The N.C. Department of Transportation contractor for the project plans to close the ramp from eastbound I-40 onto Harper Road (Exit 182) at 10 p.m. Monday, April 15 and reopen it no later than 5 a.m. the next morning.
This closure is needed so the contract crew can install drainage pipe under the ramp. The work is weather dependent and may be subject to change.
A signed detour will be in place during the closure, directing traffic to exit eastbound I-40 at N.C. 801 and follow U.S. 158 to Harper Road.
Drivers should use caution throughout the work zone and plan ahead for extra travel time because of the detour.
