Lane of I-40 Closing as Rehab Project Begins Next Week in Davie County

MOCKSVILLE – A lane closure goes into effect next week as a rehabilitation project begins for a stretch of Interstate 40 in Davie County.

The contract crew plans to close the right lane of eastbound I-40 between mile marker 169 near Mocksville and mile marker 164 near the Cool Springs community to conduct shoulder work and paving from April 22 until Memorial Day weekend.

The closure will be in place around the clock every day during that time frame and is expected to have a significant impact on traffic.

Drivers should use caution throughout the work zone and anticipate delays because of the lane closure.

This work is part of a $55.6 million project recently awarded by the N.C. Department of Transportation to rehabilitate 6.5 miles of I-40, including the replacement of two bridges over Hunting Creek and upgrading the U.S. 64 bridge over I-40 to the east of the bridge replacement project.

Various lane closures will be required throughout the project.
