GREENSBORO – Access to southbound Interstate 85 where it splits from I-40 West in Greensboro is scheduled to be closed overnight next week.
N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews plan to install new reflective markers where the interstates split near mile marker 131. Access to I-85 South at this location will be closed from 10 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday (April 22-23).
Southbound I-85 traffic will be detoured to follow I-40 West to Business 85 South back to I-85.
This work is part of a project to rehabilitate 7 miles of pavement on I-40/85.
Drivers should use caution near the work zone and expect commutes may take longer because of the detour.
