CONCORD – Contract crews working on the Interstate 85 widening project in Cabarrus County have scheduled overnight lane closures on I-85 North to continue paving operations and bridgework between exits 55 and 58, weather permitting.
The closures will be in place starting just after midnight Sunday, April 28, ending by 6 a.m. Monday, April 29. The same closure schedule repeats for Monday night into Tuesday morning, April 30.
Traffic will be taken off the interstate at exit 55 (N.C. 73), following to U.S. 29 North, returning to I-85. Traffic control will be removed by 6 a.m. each morning.
Motorists are encouraged to pay attention when approaching the work zone, obey the posted speed limit, follow posted detours, and allow extra time to reach their destinations safely.
