GREENSBORO – Sections of Interstate 85 and Business 85 will close this weekend while N.C. Department of Transportation contractors conduct milling and paving work south of Greensboro.
Closure details with detour information are as follows:
- I-85 Business North onto I-85 North will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday, May 3, until 6 a.m. Monday, May 6. A detour will follow Vickrey Chapel Road, Grandover Parkway and Groometown Road.
- I-85 Business North at the split from I-85 North will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday, May 3, until 5 p.m. Saturday, May 4. The detour for that closure will follow I-85 North to South Elm-Eugene Street, I-85 South and U.S. 220 North.
- Two of three lanes of I-85 North and the northbound ramp to Groometown Road will also be closed from 8 p.m. Friday, May 3, until 6 a.m. Monday, May 6. Traffic will be detoured to follow I-85 North to South Elm-Eugene Street, and I-85 South to Business 85 South.
Drivers should slow down near the work zone and look out for signage marking the closures and detours. They should also plan ahead for extra travel time along the detour routes.
