Ramps from Wade Avenue to Capital Boulevard Closing this Weekend

RALEIGH – Although the new bridges are complete, there is still plenty of work remaining for the Capital Boulevard bridges project.

Some of that work will require closing the ramps from Wade Avenue onto northbound and southbound Capital Boulevard this weekend.

Both closures are expected to be in place from 9 p.m. on Friday, May 31, until 6 a.m. on Monday, June 3.

The closure for the loop to northbound Capital Boulevard is needed so crews can safely repair a manhole in the travel lane. The closure of access to southbound Capital Boulevard will allow workers to remove existing concrete and replace it with asphalt.

The detour for both closures is essentially the same: drivers on eastbound Wade Avenue will be directed off the road at the Glenwood Avenue exit, where they will head right to Peace Street, and then left, where they can access Capital Boulevard going north or south.

Drivers need to pay extra attention to the road closure and detour signs and anticipate possibly needing a little extra time while on the detour route.

Similar weekend closures are possible for much of the summer as the contractor pushes toward completing the project this fall.
