Public Meeting Set for Proposed Surrett Drive Widening

TRINITY – The public is invited to a public meeting this week to view details and give feedback on a proposed project to widen Surrett Drive in Randolph and Guilford counties.

The N.C. Department of Transportation intends to widen Surrett Drive from two to three lanes between I-85 in Randolph County and West Fairfield Road just across the Guilford County line, improving access between the interstate and manufacturing operations in High Point. Current plans also call for improving intersections at N.C. 62, Turnpike Road, Mendenhall Road, Corporation Drive/Edenton Terrace and West Fairfield Road, and adding sidewalks along some parts of the stretch.

Maps of the proposed plans and other project details can also be found on the NCDOT public meeting webpage and the project website.

They will also be on display at a workshop-style meeting set for Thursday, June 13, from 5-7 p.m. at Trinity High School, 5746 Trinity High School Drive. 

Project representatives will also be present to answer questions and receive public input that will be help guide the development of the project. Comments may also be submitted by phone or email by July 15.
