STATESVILLE – The N.C. Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting next week to update citizens on a project to improve the Interstate 40/Interstate 77 interchange. More than 70,000 vehicles use the interchange every day, and that number is expected to climb to 110,000 vehicles per day by 2035.
Some project improvements include:
- Improvements to the I-40/I-77 interchange
- Better access management on East Broad Street between Vine Street and Signal Hill Drive
- Modifications to interchanges at I-40/Mocksville Road and I-77/East Broad Street

The meeting will be held Monday, Aug. 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Statesville Agricultural Center, located at 444 Bristol Drive. Interested citizens may attend the meeting at any time for updates on construction activities and the project’s timeline.
