Pipe Replacement to Close Sampson County Road

NEWTON GROVE – A section of a Sampson County road will close for one week while N.C. Department of Transportation crews replace a pipe damaged during Hurricane Florence.

Mount Olive Highway will close starting Aug. 5 between the intersections of Emmet Thornton Road and the William R. King Road. The half-mile stretch in the town of Newton Grove is expected to reopen Aug. 12, after crews replace the damaged drainage pipe.

Traffic will be detoured onto N.C. 50, Sutton Town Road, Interstate 40 and U.S. 701.

Drivers should anticipate needing extra time for their commutes. Motorists should slow down when approaching the work zone.
