Public Meeting Set for U.S. 17 Intersection Improvements in Elizabeth City

ELIZABETH CITY – The public is invited to offer feedback next week on plans to improve the intersection at U.S. Highway 17 and Oak Stump Road in Elizabeth City.

The proposed project would realign the intersection to create either a three or four-legged signaled intersection at that location. The project comes at the request of local officials in an effort to improve traffic flow and safety at the intersection.

More information about the proposed project, including maps of the area, is available on the NCDOT public meetings webpage.

The meeting is from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 6 at The Mount Elizabeth City, located at 1021 U.S. Highway 17 South.

The public may drop in any time during the meeting hours, as no formal presentation will be made. Project team members will be present to answer questions and hear comments that will be considered as the proposed project develops.

Comments can also be submitted by phone or email by Aug. 20. For more information and to send in comments, contact NCDOT Division 1 Project Manager Roham Lahiji at rrlahiji@ncdot.gov or 252-482-1882.

NCDOT will provide auxiliary aids and services to any disabled person who wants to attend the meeting. Anyone requiring special services should contact Tony Gallagher at 919-707-6069 or magallagher@ncdot.gov to make arrangements as early as possible.
