BRIDGETON – N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close a portion of U.S. 17 in both directions in Craven County next week to perform maintenance at a railroad crossing.
NCDOT will close the road Aug. 16 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. to allow a contractor to safely repave and replace concrete panels for the tracks at the crossing near B Street.
Traffic is expected to be heavily impacted during the workday. Drivers will be redirected to Weyerhauser Road, U.S. 70 West, and the U.S. 17 Bypass.
Drivers should remain alert for detour signs and plan for delays to their regular commute.
