Internet Service Restored After Interruption at DMV Offices in Central and Western N.C.

RALEIGH – Internet service has been restored at numerous N. C. Division of Motor Vehicles offices affected by an outage earlier Tuesday.

Service was restored just before 3 p.m. at offices in the Triad area, the Charlotte area and portions of the eastern mountains and foothills.

The internet outage from the DMV’s service provider started impacting numerous driver license offices and license plate agencies about 10:45 a.m.

Officials with AT&T Business Services traced the problem to a defective circuit card in Huntersville.

The outage also impacted several local N.C. Department of Transportation offices.

Many DMV services, such as license or REAL ID renewal, registration renewals and vehicle tax payments, and address changes, can be accessed online through the official DMV website at MyNCDMV.gov.
