RALEIGH — Weekend work on the Capital Boulevard bridges project will require lane and ramp closures from 9 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday.
The contractor will be removing and replacing pavement on northbound Capital Boulevard between Lane Street and the Peace Street bridge. This will require the closure of the two outside lanes. The inside lane will remain open, but travelers can expect possible backups because of the single-lane traffic pattern.
The work will also shut down the ramp from northbound Capital Boulevard to Peace Street. Drivers on McDowell Street who want to access Peace Street will follow a signed detour using Jones and Wilmington streets.
The ramp from Peace Street onto northbound Capital Boulevard remains closed as the old ramp is demolished and a new one is constructed.
Drivers need to pay extra attention to the lane and ramp closures and the related detour signs and to anticipate needing a little extra time for the detour.
