This Week at NCDOT: Daylight Saving Time Ends and Drone Safety Awareness Week

RALEIGH – The following are highlights from this week at the N.C. Department of Transportation. The stories below are also featured in NCDOT Now, the department's weekly newscast.

Daylight Saving Time Ends

Daylight Saving time ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3, and that can present some challenges for drivers as it gets darker sooner.

The N.C. Department of Transportation’s highest priority is safety, so in addition to turning clocks back one hour on Sunday, it is also a good time to:

  • Make sure all your vehicle’s lights, including emergency flashers, are working properly;
  • Switch headlights from high to low beam when vehicles approach;
  • Be alert and watch for bicyclists, pedestrians and deer; and
  • Be well rested and avoid driving while tired.

For more, go to NCDOT.gov and search ‘Daylight Saving’.

Drone Safety Awareness Week

The NCDOT will join people and organizations across the country in spreading awareness of the many ways people are using drones these days and sharing safety tips to make sure everyone flies safe and can have fun.

Be sure to follow NCDOT and the Division of Aviation on social media for more.

'How Are We Doing' Survey

Finally, there’s still time to let NCDOT know how we’re doing.

Head over to NCDOT.gov, and on the homepage you’ll find the survey.

The results of the survey will be used to identify ways NCDOT can make North Carolina’s transportation system safer, more efficient and responsive to people’s needs.

For more information about NCDOT Now, contact the NCDOT Communications Office at (919) 707-2660. Additional news stories from throughout the week can be found on NCDOT.gov.
