Pavement Repairs Start Sunday Night on I-40 in Catawba County

CLAREMONT – Starting Sunday, Nov. 17, N.C. Department of Transportation crews will be working on both sides of Interstate 40 near mile marker 136 to patch potholes on the bridge crossing Lyle Creek. Work will take place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night through Friday morning, Nov. 22, weather permitting.

Repairs will start on I-40 East Sunday night. Depending on progress, the work will shift to I-40 West on Tuesday night.

When crews are working in the right lanes, drivers will not be able to access rest areas on either side of I-40. The closures will last no more than two nights, one night for each direction. Signage will be in place to give drivers advance warning.
