NCDMV License Plate Agencies Experiencing Service Interruptions

RALEIGH – A power outage in the Raleigh area affecting N.C. Department of Revenue servers is causing an interruption of some services at N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles’ License Plate Agencies across the state.  Many of those offices have closed for the remainder of today because of the service interruption.

Officials at NCDOR report the power outage problem is with servers used to process vehicle tax payments at LPA offices, resulting in an interruption of service providing new license plates and renewals involving a change of address.

The service interruption is also affecting some DMV online vehicle registration services.  Driver license offices across the state and online driver services are not affected by the interruption.

NCDOR officials estimate it could be several hours before the outage is corrected.

Customers can visit the NCDMV website to check on the status of their local office.
