Sewer Work Requires Road Closure in Orange County

CARRBORO – State transportation contractors plan to close a Carrboro road for about two weeks to install a sewer line that is necessary for the ongoing roundabout construction project.

North Greensboro Street is scheduled to be closed between Estes Drive Extension and Oak Avenue from 9 a.m. April 14 until 5 p.m. April 28, weather permitting. A full traffic closure is needed so crews can safely install a sewer line and manhole in the middle of the road, however, this location will still be accessible for bicyclists and pedestrians.

A signed detour will be in place during this time, directing traffic to use Hillsborough Road and West Main Street to bypass the closure and to access North Greensboro Street on either side of the work zone.

Drivers should slow down and be mindful of the crews working along North Greensboro Street in the weeks ahead, and plan for extra travel time because of the detour.
