SMITHFIELD – The N.C. Department of Transportation has closed the right lane on U.S. 301 North to repair pavement near South Fifth Street in Smithfield.
The department closed the lane Thursday night to allow maintenance crews to begin repairs to make the lane smoother and safer for drivers. Crews hope to reopen the lane by April 16.
Drivers passing through the work zone should slow down, pay attention and be alert for highway workers.
