Repair Work Requires Closing I-85 Lanes and Ramp in Rowan County

SALISBURY – State contract crews plan to close two lanes of Interstate 85 South and a ramp onto the highway in Rowan County for a couple weeks starting this week.

The contractor plans to conduct concrete slab repairs near the U.S. 601/Jake Alexander Boulevard interchange (Exit 75). To do so safely, the contractor will reduce this section I-85 South from four lanes to two from 9 p.m. this Thursday until 6 a.m. on Thursday, April 30.

The ramp from Jake Alexander Boulevard onto I-85 South will also close during this time frame. As a detour, drivers will take I-85 North to Innes Street (Exit 76) to access I-85 South.

All the work is dependent on the weather, which could impact the schedule.

Drivers should slow down and be cautious when approaching this section of I-85, be mindful of the crews throughout the work zone and allow extra time for the detour.
