Busy Week for Beltway Project in Western Forsyth County

WINSTON-SALEM – Traffic will be in various temporary patterns in western Forsyth County this week as work continues on the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway project.

From 2 p.m. each day Monday through Friday until 6 a.m. the following mornings, U.S. 421 South will be reduced to a single lane for paving between Lewisville-Clemmons Road and Jonestown Road. There will also be nightly lane closures for paving along the northbound side of this stretch between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. through Saturday morning.

Farther north on the project, U.S. 52 North traffic will be directed up and over the N.C. 65 exit from 10 p.m. Monday and Tuesday until 5 a.m. the following mornings while crews set arch facade panels on the new bridge. The loop ramp from N.C. 65 onto U.S. 52 south is set to close during the same hours Wednesday and Thursday nights, ending Friday morning, for the facade work on the southbound side of the highway. A message board will be in place detouring traffic north on U.S. 52 to Westinghouse Road to turn around.

Lane closures will also be in place nightly on U.S. 52 South between Westinghouse Road and N.C. 65 Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following mornings.

All the work is weather dependent and subject to change.

Drivers should slow down and be cautious in these work zones and anticipate slight delays during the hours of construction.
