Interstate 277 Ramp Closures Resume Tonight

​​CHARLOTTE – Ramp closures will continue this week on Interstate 277 as work resumes on a $16.3 million project to improve 22 bridges along the corridor. ​​​

Starting tonight at 9 p.m., contract crews will close ramps from the outer loop to Kenilworth Avenue, and from East Fourth and Stonewall Streets to the outer loop. The closures will be in place until 6 a.m., continuing each night through Thursday morning. ​​

At 10 p.m. Thursday, crews will close inbound lanes from Wilkinson Boulevard to the outer loop, as well as ramps from I-77 South and Clarkson Street to the outer loop (exit 9B) and from the outer loop to I-77 North (exit 1C). ​​

The closures will wrap up by 6 a.m. Friday, closing again from 10 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday, June 22.​

All the work is weather dependent and subject to change. Detour information will be online at DriveNC.gov under Mecklenburg County.​

Drivers need to use caution and slow down while going through the work zones and detour routes.
